the items for sale are books -novels written by the songwriter, colin talbot. three of the novels feature the hack reporter & failed writer, traven collins, a post-drunk fake-news guy who lives in the Melbourne suburb of St Kilda with his cat Schrodinger (named for the particle physicist Schrodinger and his horrid theory of the cat in the box with the gun). Traven (Trey to his friends - if he still has any) also has a part-interest in a Border Collie doggie called Maynard, after the beatnik from the TV serial, 'The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis' named Maynard G. Krebs. With the trust doggie offsider, Trey is drawn into--well, there's the plot. stuff happens as it often does.
